Bishop LeBlond v. Archie
Two top notch teams in 8-man football meet in St. Joseph on Friday night. The No. 1 Whirlwinds square off with the No. 4 Golden Eagles, with both teams undefeated on the season. Archie won its first two games by 10 and 12 points, but has dominated since, winning by 56 and 50 points in its last two games. Bishop LeBlond is coming off of a statement win on the road against Plattsburg.
Benton v. Savannah
The Cardinals would like to get themselves back in the win column, as they haven’t won since Week 1 of the season. Savannah will look to continue to assert itself against an opponent it hasn’t lost to since 2016. The Savages will enter Sparks Field at 2-2, whereas Benton enters at 1-3.
St. Joseph Christian v. Worth County/NE Nodaway
The Lions will look to shake off a two-game losing streak on Friday night. Historically, this matchup between the two programs has been owned by Worth County. The Tigers have won the last five contests between them and the Lions.
Central v. Liberty
Last week, the Indians fell for the first time this season to North Kansas City 36-10. Central still sits at 3-1 and averaging almost 30 points per game, but Liberty is also 3-1 and is averaging 30.5 points per game. The Blue Jays are currently riding a three-game win streak.
Lafayette v. Summit Christian
Wins for the Fighting Irish have come by only shutouts, but losses have also come in shutouts. Coming off of its worst loss of the season a week ago when it lost 53-0 to Savannah, Lafayette will aim to prove its worth against Summit Christian, who enters at 2-2 and is averaging its most points per game since 2021. Lafayette has already surpassed its win total from the last two seasons.
DeKalb v. Stewartsville/Osborn
It’s been tough sledding for the DeKalb Tigers, as they have yet to win a game this season. However, Friday may be the Tigers’ best chance to notch a win, as 0-4 Stewartsville enters DeKalb. The last time the two teams played was in the Class 1 State Tournament, in which DeKalb narrowly won 44-40. The district victory in 2023 was the only win the Tigers tallied all of last season.
Mid-Buchanan @ Lawson
Both teams are well into the conference schedule, and the Dragons are the only undefeated team remaining in the conference. Mid-Buchanan hasn’t given up more than 12 points to an opponent this season. As for Lawson, the Cardinals have yet to notch a win this year, and are 0-2 in conference play in 2024.
East Buchanan @ Lathrop
The Bulldogs were able to overcome a 7-0 deficit to win 13-7 against North Platte a week ago. Now, East Buchanan gets a matchup with a team in Lathrop it has had no issues with the last three years, winning by nearly 25 points per game against the Mules the last three times the two have met.
Riverside @ Maur Hill
It may have taken the Cyclones a week to get their footing. After a Week 1 blowout to Jackson Heights at home, the Cyclones have been all business since. Riverside has won its last two games by an average of 20.5 points per game, and will enter Maur Hill Academy on Friday night to face a Ravens team off the heels of a 65-12 victory a week ago.
