Testicular cancer is a rare form of the disease, but incidence rates have been increasing in several countries for decades.

The American Cancer Society estimates that 9,760 new cases of testicular cancer will be diagnosed in the United States in 2024. Cancer Research UK reports that incidence rates for testicular cancer have increased by 27% since the early 1990s, though that increase slowed to roughly 6% in the United Kingdom between 2017 and 2019.

Despite a decades-long increase in testicular cancer incidence rates, the ACS notes that researchers are still uncertain why cases are on the rise. Even with the increase in incidence rates, the ACS reports that a man’s lifetime risk of dying from the disease is about one in 5,000.

Men concerned about testicular cancer are urged to speak with their physicians about the disease, which can affect males of all ages but is most often diagnosed in young and middle-aged men.
