By Eduardo Castillo – The Wichita Eagle (TNS)

Dec. 30—One man was hospitalized and another was arrested after a stabbing Sunday in downtown Wichita.

Wichita police responded to a stabbing call at 4:23 p.m. in the 500 block of North Broadway at the Lord’s Diner, which serves evening meals to anyone who needs one.

Police found a 20-year-old man near the front doors with a stab wound to his upper chest, Wichita police spokesperson Juan Rebolledo said.

He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery. He is expected to survive, Rebolledo said Monday in an email.

The stabbing happened after an argument between the victim and a 35-year-old man, Rebolledo said. Officers arrested the 35-year-old man in the area.

Both men are from Wichita and do not have permanent housing, according to Rebolledo.

Anyone with information related to the stabbing can call WPD detectives at 316-268-4407 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
