Donald “Donnie” Helton Sr., 72, of St.Joseph, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones Dec. 22, 2024. He was born Dec. 14, 1952, in St. Joseph, son of the late Charlotte and Roy Helton.

He was preceded in death by his wife who he was ready to go home to, Sondra Sue Helton; his parents; siblings: Ronald “Ronnie”, Betty, Shirley, Laura, Roy Jr., Chuck, David, Bobby, Jerry, and Billy.

Survivors include his children: Brandy (Jon), Riley (Stacy), Donald (Laura); several grandchildren: Montanna (Brandon), Dacota, Jakob, Harley (Aaron), Ivory, Sayley, Donald III; several great-grandchildren: Rayden, Branson, Remington, Theodore, Rylinn, Oakley, Brooklyn, Maverick, Braelynn, Kamari; siblings: Frances, Mary, Richard, Judy (R.C.); and very many other family and friends.

Donnie was a very loving and caring dad, grandpa, papa, brother, cousin and friend. He would do anything for you but if you made him mad he’d sure tell you. He will be very missed by many. His favorite things included spending most of his time with his great-grandchildren “HIS Babies”, raising farm animals, fishing, scrapping, buying things that made him happy, and just keeping busy. He was always in the yard doing something.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, with a celebration of life and public live stream starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Mary Long Officiating.
