Chris Klieman and K-State football want this recruit. The basketball team does, too

By Kellis Robinett – The Wichita Eagle (TNS)

Dec. 30—Here’s something you hardly ever see in the world of Kansas State recruiting.

Football coach Chris Klieman and basketball coach Jerome Tang are both interested in the same high school athlete.

Ian Premer, a four-star recruit from Great Bend who is expected to play tight end at the college level, suddenly boasts multiple scholarship offers from K-State. The Wildcats want him to play at Bramlage Coliseum or Bill Snyder Family Stadium when he moves up to the next level.

The K-State football team long ago offered Premer a scholarship.

Many schools want the 6-foot-5 and 220-pound athlete to play football for them. He also has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, Duke, Florida, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and Wisconsin.

As impressive as that list is on its own, he is also now being courted as a college basketball player.

On Monday, Premer announced on social media that Tang offered him a scholarship to play basketball for the Wildcats.

The odds of Premer playing multiple sports in college seem low. But it’s possible that K-State coaches could be open to him suiting up for two teams should he choose the Wildcats.

In any case, it is clear that K-State thinks highly of Premer. And why not? He is the top-rated recruit in the Sunflower State for the 2026 recruiting cycle.
