St. Joseph police say that a statue found in rural Andrew County on Tuesday is a stolen part of the “Catch Me If You Can” display.

The statue, created by Rosie Sandifer, is a bronze casting of a child skating, and is one of several related works situated along the Parkway system at Corby Pond. SJPD Detective Elliot Barton worked with the Andrew County Sheriff’s Office to recover the statue after coming across information about the statue’s whereabouts while working on another case.

The statute is now in the custody of the St. Joseph parks department, Capt. Jeff Wilson said in a news release. The statues together titled “Catch Me If You Can” have been damaged, altered and stolen several times over the years, prompting replacement in 2019. No suspects have been named in connection with the latest theft, which occurred March 4.
