A St. Joseph woman has serious injuries after being hit by a car that overturned while she was standing along U.S. Highway 36 on Tuesday.

Heather Bolonyi-Holt, 39, was driving a truck pulling a camper west at about 6 a.m. on U.S. 36 when it broke down and blocked part of the highway in Wheeling, Missouri, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report. A car driven by Michael Kinnison, 44 of Salisbury, Missouri, hit the camper and tore the side off, causing his vehicle to overturn.

While overturning, Kinnison’s vehicle hit Bolonyi-Holt, who was standing outside of her truck, the report said. Kinnison’s car landed on its top blocking the passing lane of the highway.

Bolonyi-Holt was taken by helicopter to University Hospital. Kinnison, who was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries and refused treatment at the scene, the report said.
