ROSENDALE, Mo. – Glenn Dale Atkins, Rosendale, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Dale was born on Dec. 3, 1927, in Fillmore, Missouri, to the late William Franklin and Anna (Ueligger) Atkins. Dale was a graduate of Fillmore High School.

Dale farmed his whole life until his retirement.

Dale loved sports, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City CHIEFS. He coached softball and in his younger days he played guitar and sang in a band with his brothers. He was an avid card player. Dale was a member of the Rosendale Christian Church.

Dale married Lola Marie (Shaffer) Atkins on Jan. 12, 1947, in Savannah, Missouri. She preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2020.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Diana Marie Atkins; son, Danny L. Atkins, and brothers Lloyd, Dean and Larry Atkins.

Dale is survived by sons, Randy (Linda) Atkins, and Ricky (Lori) Atkins, of Rosendale, and Eugene Atkins, of Maryville, Missouri; daughter-law, Cheryl Atkins, of St. Joseph; eight grandchildren; 32 great-grand-children; and six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral will be Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. March 8, 2024, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, Interment Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to North Andrew Scholarship Foundation. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
