Alice Evelyn Boller, 83, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 7, 1941, in St. Joseph, the daughter of the late Dorothy and Clarence Murphy. She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1958. She was the class Valedictorian, and a member of the National Honor Society, Future Homemakers of America, and Future Scientists of America.

Alice married Charles LeRoy Boller on Jan. 11, 1958. He passed away on Dec. 7, 1995. In 2003 she retired from the St. Joseph School District after more than 30 years of service. Alice first served as the school Librarian at Blair Elementary School, then finished her career in the business office as the manager of the school district insurance program. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and bird watching. She also loved sewing, making most of her children’s clothing and quilts for her many grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by husband, Charles LeRoy Boller; her parents; sons-in-law, Jeffery Scott Ford and Gregg Lighty; a brother, Thomas Murphy; sisters, Marie Fenwick and Pamela Starling.

Survivors include six children: Dorothy Ford, Victoria (Tim) LaBerge, Timothy (Jim Battrell) Boller, Ginger (Dan) Rudolph, Margaret Groves Lighty, Charles Thomas “Tom” (Brenda) Boller, and a bonus son, Jorge Maciel Nava; brothers, Jerry (Kathy) Murphy and Ray (Linda) Murphy; 18 grandchildren: Jessica, Heather, Wally, Charlie, Holly, Dana, Nick, Lindsey, Blair, Katie, Alyson, Vanessa, Alex, Emily, Hollyann, Alisha, Kathleen, and bonus grandson, Jamie Ray; 29 great-grandchildren with two more expected in June; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends;…and Dudley.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Dave Long officiating. The Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the American Heart Association, and the American Cancer Society.
