Fans still waiting for select Super Bowl memorabilia

Some fans jumped on the chance to buy Super Bowl T-shirts and hoodies right after Sunday’s victory, but some commemorative items can take a little longer to hit the shelves.

“In our business here, it takes about two weeks before you get our Super Bowl LVIII items,” said Carleo Pucubas, owner of Pony Express Sports & More. “It’s because of the order, it’s just a small number of items for the Super Bowl.”

While stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods and Rally House are able to sell T-shirts immediately, Pucubas said his business focuses more on collectibles, which take more time to get ready.

“That’s where we actually earn our money because the mini helmets will be signed by the Kansas City Chiefs,” Pucubas said. “People might be able to get that from other stores. We don’t increase our prices.”

Since small business can’t get the orders of major chains in the same time, it forces them to be creative in what good they will offer, as money gets tight. Pucubas prefers to offer items like newspaper clippings, signed jerseys and replica trophies.

“Small business like us, we just not do any dated materials because if we didn’t sell them, we cannot return those items,” he said. “What we try to do is something different.”

Even though fans have to wait a little longer for these items, the fact that they’re celebrating a championship makes patience easier to come by.

“I have a good customer base that’s been following me for the last two years,” Pucubas said.
