Isolated strong storms tonight with very large hail and damaging winds possible

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Good morning to you all. We are tracking the potential for strong to severe storms across the Central Plains today. Fortunately, in today's update, the threat is looking more and more limited in our immediate area when compared to the storms folks will see further north.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has us in a level 3 out of 5 risk this afternoon. The biggest threats will be very large hail in our area, where a 30% chance or greater of a hail storm happening within 25 miles of your house exists. It would be a good idea to park your car under some shelter later today. Damaging winds are also going to be an issue throughout the day today. Not only will we start the day off gusty, but for those who get around tonights storms could see 60 mph winds or greater- strong enough to produce damage at home. If you haven't already, put any outdoor items away ASAP!
Storms will become more likely as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday. That will also be when we have a heightened flood threat each day. Eventually, rain chances will decrease as we head into the end of the week.
Overall, it is imperative for you to be weather aware today. Situations can change quickly, so don't get caught outside in a storm.
