Tracking a cool and dry start to the weekend; Severe threat Monday

Cool and dry conditions will prevail across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas Friday night and Saturday, before warmth and thunderstorm chances return Sunday and Monday. An apparent threat for severe thunderstorms will develop Monday, as scattered storms capable of multiple hazards will be possible across the region. Mostly cloudy skies and cool breezes will continue into Friday night. Overnight lows will fall into the lower 50s to upper 40s with northerly winds at 10-15 mph. Partly cloudy skies and cool, dry conditions will remain Saturday as highs reach the low to mid 60s. Sunday will bring a warm-up with highs reaching the low to mid 70s, increasing clouds, and a 40% chance of isolated to scattered non-severe thunderstorms. Temperatures will surge into the 80s Monday afternoon as a low pressure system approaches the area, setting the stage for scattered strong to severe storms Monday afternoon and evening.
