Williams signs with Seward County

When one thinks of Antonio Williams as a basketball player, the word sharpshooter may come to mind, or maybe explosive, but whatever it is, the Lafayette senior has turned himself into a recognizable name in St. Joseph.
On Wednesday, the All-State and two-time All-City guard signed his letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas, a move that gets him one step closer to his ultimate goal.
“Division I level is where I’m trying to go,” Williams said.
But to get to this day wasn’t always easy for Williams. Growing up in what he calls a bad neighborhood, he says it took a toll on him, but as he got older and went through high school, he was able to find the right people to help him reach his goals. He cites his head coach Kevin Bristol as one of those people.
“My biggest advice for him is away from basketball. Just be Antonio, the kid that we've seen here for four years,” Bristol said.
Williams saw more than enough success during his time at Lafayette, and the rich culture he helped sustain built relationships along the way that go beyond the game.
The energy, always smiling. It gives me something to look forward to in life,” Williams said. “I know people count on me so I can't give up on them.”
