US–SEVERE WEATHER-OKLAHOMA

Tornado-producing storm deals deadly weather to Oklahoma and Texas

SUMMARY: A slow-moving, active storm system has brought heavy rain, large hail and tornadoes to parts of Texas and Oklahoma and left three people dead. Severe weather warnings lingered into Easter Sunday across parts of the south-central and Midwest U.S. Police in Moore, Oklahoma, say high waters stranded two cars Saturday evening, and one car was swept away under a bridge. Police say they were able to rescue some people, but a woman and 12-year-old boy were found dead. Officials in Hughes County say the storm killed one person after a tornado touched down in Spaulding, Oklahoma. Large swaths of Oklahoma remain under a National Weather Service flood watch through Sunday, along with parts of Missouri, Arkansas and southern Illinois.

US–MARIJUANA HOLIDAY-ORIGIN STORY

Marijuana holiday 4/20 coincides with Easter and Passover this year. Here’s what to know

SUMMARY: Marijuana culture’s high holiday known as 4/20 falls this year on Easter, as well as the last day of Passover. That means cannabis fans can celebrate in some unusual ways, including an Easter nug hunt in Los Angeles, kosher-style THC gummies in New York and a blaze and praise drag brunch in Portland, Oregon. Some 300 people are expected to partake in the Easter nug scavenger hunt this weekend, aided by a mobile app leading them through participating dispensaries, trivia challenges and so-called stoner activities. The origin of the term 4/20 dates to the 1970s and a group of bell-bottomed buddies at a high school north of San Francisco who called themselves the Waldos.
