Sutherland, Dee Ann 1949-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Dee Ann Sutherland, a beloved mother, musician, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 76.

To her children, Dee Ann was not just a mother but a source of music and joy from the very beginning. “From the beginning of my life until the end of hers, mom has always meant music to me,” one recalled.

Summer evenings on the front porch or sitting in the sunshine with her guitar remain among the cherished memories. “Even being dragged into singing in public because the song was out of her voice range are precious memories, but for now, it hurts to hear,” shared another.

“Her love is an indelible part of me,” one of her children said. “Her caring spirit will forever be a part of all the lives she touched. She will always be in our hearts.”

Dee Ann’s life will be honored in a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to sit in the sun, listen to a favorite song, and remember the beauty of a life well-lived. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
