DES MOINES, Iowa – Loren Gene Velvick, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Feb. 7, 2024, at his residence. Born on March 10, 1948, in Seneca, Kansas, he was the son of Woodrow and Naomi (Lyder) Velvick.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Leslie Dean Velvick.
He leaves behind a loving family: his sons, Chad (Cheryl), of Swisher, Iowa, Caleb, Cory, Christopher (Jennifer), Charles (Michelle), and Alexander, of St. Joseph; his daughters, Allison Parker, of Germany, Ashley Arevalo, Annamarie Lingle, Audrey Lingle, of St. Joseph, and Monica (Prat) Kale, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Woodard and Linda Pollentier, of Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; as well as 10 nieces and nephews, and many more family and friends.
He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and is now at peace in heaven. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
