It’s Your Call for April 3

Get it cleaned up

Okay, winter's over. The streets of St. Joe look like crap because the city can't get out and fix the potholes. They're going to say they don't have the money or the manpower. St. Joe's getting tired of hearing excuses from the city. Why don't we have Trump come in here and clean this city up, the school board the city hall and everybody else, because they're not doing their job. They come up with all these excuses. Get the town cleaned up like it's supposed to be. We pay for this.

Move in that direction

I am not so sure that we should want the population of St. Joe to grow to 70 to 75,000. If you look at larger cities, you'll see an increase in crime, drug abuse and violence in the schools. What I would suggest is that we have an earnings tax for St. Joseph. If you live in St. Joseph and you earn your living in Saint Joseph, you would pay no tax. But if you earn your living in St. Joseph and you live in other communities, you would pay an earnings tax. This would solve a great many of our problems here in St. Joseph, and I think we need to move forward in that in that direction before we start thinking about a new high school, or two new high schools.

Should've known it was a lie

Remember during Trump's campaign how he promised prices would come down day one if he was elected? Prices have constantly gone up since he's been elected. He doesn't care about the American people. He's going to raise them even higher on us with these tariffs. It’s the most beautiful word in the dictionary, remember? He tried it the first time. It didn't work. We had to bail American farmers out to keep them afloat during that thing. The American people paid for that. Individual human being and the United States had to pay for his mess up. We're going to do it again. When he said he's going to lower prices, you should have known it was a lie. His mouth was moving.

Sad display

This has to do with the article in the Midland section of the Wednesday, April 2, newspaper on Page B1. The picture of the post office collection boxes are on 9th St. That picture shows the complete attention that the local post office is paying to itself. Those boxes are all rusty, and the paint, and you tell me nobody from across the street could even repair them or have any to replace them with? It's a sad display of what the heck the post office has turned into.
