A historic season for the southside of St. Joseph saw both the Benton girls and boys basketball teams capture runner-up finishes in Class 4.

Following a 34-point performance by Lincoln Goodwin in the semifinals on Friday against Logan-Rogersville, the Benton boys found themselves in a disadvantageous situation, as they had less than 24 hours to prepare for a Missouri high school basketball dynasty in Vashon for the Class 4 championship.
