ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Families can sign kids up now for a summer camp aimed at sparking their curiosity.

Camp Invention, a nonprofit summer enrichment program, is coming to emPowerU, 518 S. Sixth St., from July 7 to 11. The camp for kids entering kindergarten through sixth grade challenges students to use creativity to solve problems.

Participants engage in hands-on activities that promote STEM learning, build confidence and leadership and encourage entrepreneurship. Activities are inspired by National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees.

At the camp, kids can assemble a custom control panel with a transmitter and receiver to create a prototype of their own artificial intelligence-inspired bobblehead assistant, build an animation device to bring drawings to life and construct a functional "Claw Arcade" out of cardboard.

Camp Invention programs are taught by local educators. The program runs daily for the week from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the price is $275.
