Litton, Sandra 1938-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Sandra Litton, 86, St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025. She was born July 14, 1938, to Karl and Edna (Saunders) Manthey, in St. Joseph.

On June 1, 1956, Sandra wed Paul Litton, her beloved husband of 60 years, until his passing in 2017. Their union was a testament to enduring love and shared joy in raising their children and embracing the delights of their grandchildren.

Professionally, Sandra was a trailblazer, becoming the first female jail administrator for Buchanan County and attaining the rank of Sheriff’s Captain. Her commitment to service was remarkable during her tenure of over 30 years with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Steiner (Mark), Charles Litton, Ronald Litton, and Tony Litton (Bridgett); grandchildren, Taylor Litton (Tiffany), Anthony Litton (Ehren), Haley Meyer (Nathan), and Alexandria Litton; great-grandchildren, A.J. Litton, Kennedy Litton, Grayson Meyer, Alma Litton and Maya Litton; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will gather with friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
