Speaks, Grant E. 1927-2025 Troy, Kan.

TROY, Kan. – Grant Eugene Speaks, 97, of Troy, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Apostolic Christian Home, in Sabetha, Kansas. Grant was born on Oct. 5, 1927, in Sparks, Kansas, to John Terrance and Alice (Blanton) Speaks.
He graduated from Troy High School. After graduating he joined the U.S. Army. Upon returning from the army he went to work for Pepsi Cola as a supervisor for 38 years.
Grant was a member of the Troy Christian Church, Troy Masonic Lodge #55, Troy Lions Club, York Rite, Shriner’s and Troy American Legion Post #55.
Grant married Barbara Jean Thomas on Oct. 16, 1948, in Atchison, Kansas. She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, James Speaks; siblings, Mike Speaks, Addie Young, Virginia Clary, Alma Lee Reder and Johnny Speaks; and son-in-law, Gary Blanton.
Survivors: Linda Blanton, Thomas (Anita) Speaks, Brenda (Larry) Turpin, David Speaks, all of Troy, Patricia (Keith) Ahlvers, Frankfort, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Troy Christian Church, Troy. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home, in Troy.
