ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- A Wathena, Kansas, woman faces a misdemeanor charge of animal abuse for causing a cat's death.

Kylie Barmann, 31, is alleged to have abused the cat at a St. Joseph residence on Jan. 20. According to a probable cause statement, she caused the animal's death by throwing it repeatedly on a concrete floor, kicking it several times while it was on the ground and standing on its head for several seconds.

Barmann was identified by a witness as the person seen in surveillance video causing the cat's death, the court documents said.

Barmann is being held in the Buchanan County Jail on a $10,000 bond. She is set for an initial appearance at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Buchanan County Courthouse.
