Robert was born on June 7, 1956, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Felix and Annie (Knott) Scheerer. He entered the gates of Heaven on Feb. 16, 2025.

He was raised in Stover, Missouri, where he graduated from Morgan County R1 High School and attended trade school for auto body in 1974. He was united in marriage to Esther Ocejo on Feb. 11, 1978, in Raytown, Missouri, and later moved to St. Joseph, in 1986.

They enjoyed doing everything together from home projects, to practicing Aikido, and camping. They had two children, Kenneth and Kimberly. Robert worked for Altec Industries for 32 years and retired in October 2020. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, road trips, working on cars, attending car shows, and the Chiefs. Robert was the sensei and founder of St. Joseph Aikido Club. He was a very talented man from creating beautiful paintings, pinstriping cars, woodworking and welding. He had an amazing eye for detail.

He has three granddaughters and one great- granddaughter, who he referred to as his “Geers”. He enjoyed attending all their many events and activities. Robert was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He was a member of Church of Christ.

Robert is survived by his children, Kenneth and Kimberly Scheerer; granddaughters, Skyleigh Scheerer, Trinity and Serina Martin; great-granddaughter, Marcella Sollars; sister, Margaret (Ann) Rake (Tony); with several cousins, nieces, and nephew.

Proceeded in death, wife, Esther (Ocejo) Scheerer; parents, Felix and Annie Scheerer; brother, William (Bill) Scheerer.

Services will be Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Sidenfaden Chapel. Burial in Blakely Cemetery, Easton, Missouri. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
