Snowfall brings tricky road conditions to St. Joseph

A winter storm is bringing light to moderate snowfall to the St. Joseph area on Wednesday.
The snow-covered roads and reduced visibility will make travel hazardous.
As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, between 1 and 3 inches of snow has fallen across much of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas, including the Highway 36 corridor. Parts of far Northern Missouri have received 3 to 5 inches since Tuesday night.
Additional snowfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches are anticipated Wednesday from the Iowa border southward to the Kansas City metro.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Atchison, Nodaway, and Holt counties in far Northwest Missouri through 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for all of Northeast Kansas and the rest of Northwest Missouri, including St. Joseph and the Kansas City metro through 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12.
Difficult travel conditions are expected through the warning period. Evening commutes will be impacted by the hazardous conditions. Consider avoiding travel if possible. If you must travel, do so with caution and have extra supplies on hand.
Bitterly cold air will continue to push into the region Wednesday afternoon and evening. Single-digit wind chill values are forecast to drop below zero Wednesday night through early Thursday, resulting in minimal melting and an extended period of slick roadways.
