Juvenile in custody following standoff

Police are engaged in a standoff in the 800 block of N. 10th Street Wednesday afternoon.

The St. Joseph Police Department confirmed that a juvenile suspect is in custody following a standoff in the 800 block of N. 10th St. on Wednesday morning.

The juvenile was arrested due to his alleged connection to a Feb. 9 shooting at the North Belt Walmart, according to SJPD Sergeant Richard McGregory.

SJPD is investigating another shooting incident from around noon on Wednesday, near the 800 block of N. 13th St.

SJPD has not confirmed if anyone is in custody or if the situation is connected to the standoff stemming from the N. Belt Walmart shooting.
