Ruddy, Mary R. 1930-2025 Troy, Kan.

TROY, Kan. – Mary Ruth Ruddy, 94, of Troy, Kansas, passed away at the Mosaic Life Care early Thursday morning, on Jan. 16, 2025. Mary was born on April 17, 1930, to Bruce and Opal (McKay) Herring.
Mary grew up on a farm near Sparks, Kansas, and graduated from Troy High School and Highland Community College. Upon graduation, Mary taught for over 40 years in the Doniphan County School system.
She was a member of the Moray Women’s Club, active member of the Troy Christian Church, Troy Lions Club, and Troy Booster Club. As an avid supporter of KU Basketball and various local school sports, Mary was known to her family and friends as a loving and caring person, who will be greatly missed. Mary Ruth was awarded Master Teacher USD #429, for the 1988-1989 school year.
Mary married James “Jimmie” L. Ruddy on Dec. 27, 1950, in Purcell, Kansas. He preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bettie Fritch, Tom and Quentin Herring.
Survivors include, sister, Nancy Jeschke, of Troy; sisters-in-law, Mary Harrell, of St. Joseph, and Marilyn Ruddy, of Lenexa, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025, at the Troy Christian Church, Troy. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Troy Christian Church. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday, at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Troy. Burial: Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy.
