KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Patricia “Pat” Ann Sauer, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Rolla, Missouri, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on Nov. 8, 1934, in St. Joseph, to the late Frank Zbierski and Margaret (Nurski) Zbierski. Pat married Dr. Harry “Hank” J. Sauer Jr. on June 9, 1956. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2008.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant brother, William Zbierski; two sisters, Rose Marie Duty and Marilyn Polous; and a son-in-law, Randy Hrovat.

Pat was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. She lived out her faith by volunteering for the food pantry at church and with the L.O.V.E. organization. She enjoyed serving as a Girl Scout leader. Her interests included working in her yard and doing jigsaw puzzles. Pat’s greatest joy was in taking care of her family.

Pat will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes: nine children, H. John Sauer III and wife Katie, of Punta Gorda, Florida, Elizabeth McMindes and husband, David, of Overland Park, Kansas, Carl Sauer and wife, Bridget, of Newport, North Carolina, Robert Sauer and wife Bev, of Longmont, Colorado, Kathy Hrovat, of Rolla, Debbie Larsen and husband Brad, of Seattle, Washington, Vicki Pigg and husband Jeff, of Neptune Beach, Florida, Valerie Gooch and husband Keith, of Parkville, Missouri, and Joe Sauer and wife Susan, of Eureka, Missouri; two brothers, Frank Zbierski and wife, Meg, of Rancho Cordova, California, and Tom Zbierski, of Chicago, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Sauer, of St. Joseph; 26 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass for Patricia A. Sauer will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2025, at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, in Rolla. Interment will follow in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, with a rosary service at 4:30 p.m. at the Null and Son Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Patrick Catholic Church or the G.R.A.C.E. Food Pantry.
