Community members have a chance to celebrate Black authors at the Rolling Hills Library's sixth annual African American Read-In later this month.

The event will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Rolling Hills Library located in the Belt branch's upper story, 1906A N. Belt.

Speakers will read historical and contemporary pieces, poetry, children’s books and their own works.

The National African American Read-in was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. The initiative has reached more than six million participants around the world.

The event is offered for all ages and light refreshments will be served.
