KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jacklyn Foley Koeneman, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Nov. 19, 2024. She was born in West Plains, Missouri, on Aug. 29, 1936, the daughter of Jack Orr and Harriett Wakefield Foley. She was a graduate of Central High School, St. Joseph, and maintained lasting friendships from that time with the group known as the Buckaroos. She graduated from Southwest Missouri State College, Springfield in 1958.
On Aug. 1, 1959, Jacklyn and Ben Koeneman were married in Springfield. Ben and Jacklyn taught school in Willow Springs and Salem, Missouri, school districts for more than 30 years. They were the parents of two daughters, Amy and Sally.
Jacklyn was an active member of the United Methodist Church while living in Salem, Mt. Vernon, and St. Joseph. She was a lifelong member of PEO, DAR, and Friends of the Library. While in St. Joseph she was a board member for the St. Joesph Public Library and volunteered with the Robidoux Resident Theatre and Mosaic Hospital.
Jacklyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, in 2001; her parents, Jack and Harriett; sister, Linda Wheeler and her husband Keith; and in-laws, Ben and Lillian Koeneman.
She is survived by her daughters and their families, Amy Koeneman, of Chesapeake, Virginia, and her sons, Stone Dunham and Luke Dunham; and Sally and Bill Wirtz, of Kansas City, Missouri, and their daughter and her family, Sarah and Dillon Kaiser and baby girl due shortly; and their son, Jack Wirtz and Rachel Ogren and their daughter, Lottie Wirtz. Her brother Jim and his wife Avon Foley, of Texas; and many more relatives and friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the public libraries of Salem, Missouri, Mt. Vernon, Missouri, or St. Joseph.
