Local Chiefs fans prepare to head to New Orleans

A few local Chiefs fans are preparing for a chance of a lifetime, as they head to the Super Bowl LIX game in New Orleans.
The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl Sunday matchup and will have a chance to complete a three-peat.
Nate Morrow and Gary Kirkpatrick are the creators and administrators of the Chiefs Lot J Tailgating Crew on Facebook.
The two long-time Chiefs fans have been season ticket holders for about 12 years...And their both excited to be able to witness the chance for their favorite team to make history.
“It’s history in the making,” said Morrow. “It’s never been done. It makes...The dynasty becomes a real dynasty.”
Both Morrow and Kirkpatrick have done their fair share of following the team to their many Super Bowl victories...
Morrow making mention that he missed Super Bowl LV, where the Chiefs lost to the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021, where he discovered that he couldn’t miss another game since.
But the pair isn’t tired of seeing their team in a big match up like the Super Bowl.
“I mean, we’ve been through the lows, we know what it’s like,” said Kirkpatrick.
“Two and 14 seasons weren’t very fun. I mean, we didn’t get 50 years before we made it to another Super Bowl,” said Morrow. “It was 25 years before we won a playoff game.”
Morrow and Kirkpatrick said they hope other teams will someday get to feel the high that Chiefs fans have been feeling for the last five years.
But for now, like other Chiefs fans, they’re basking in the glory.
“I don’t can if it’s 10-7, I don’t care if it’s 29-5,” said Morrow. “I don’t care what the score is. Just win.”
Both fans are planning a big weekend heading into the big game, as they’ll be heading to New Orleans on Saturday and will celebrate up until the big game...
And the two have some very big plans for former Chiefs players, Chiefs fans and anyone who wants to be involved in their tailgating group.
“A lot of the events we put on, I mean, it’s constantly...Every single day on the phone planning,” said Morrow. “So all the fans that do come to our events will have a good time.”
Morrow said the Lot J Tailgating Crew, in partnership with the Chop It Up Travel Club, will have different events and get-together’s leading up to the big game.
