Weekend college football recap

By NewsPress Now

Missouri Western 34,

Central Oklahoma 37

Another chance to knock off a nationally-ranked opponent slipped right through the hands of the Griffons once again. Western shook off an early 14-point deficit, just to turn the game over on its head and take the lead by 14 points with under six minutes to play. But Central Oklahoma kept on, and with the help of a punt return touchdown and a fourth down stop late in the game, the Bronchos took the game in overtime on what was a chilly and rainy afternoon.

Northwest Missouri State 44, Northeastern State 26

Following a bye week, the Bearcats came out sharp, as they didn’t allow Northeastern State to see the lead. Northwest kept the Riverhawks at least arm’s distance. Bearcat quarterback Chris Ruhnke had himself an efficient day, completing 16 of 23 passes for 185, three touchdowns and no interceptions. The Bearcats will visit Spratt Stadium next weekend for a bout with rival Missouri Western.

Benedictine 47, MidAmerica Nazarene 48

A five-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday when Benedictine decided to go for a two-point conversion following its final touchdown of the game with seven seconds remaining to bring them within one point of undefeated MidAmerica Nazarene. The Pioneers stopped the Ravens and came out with the victory to keep their season perfect.
