Holiday movie will be shot locally

St. Joseph is back in the spotlight again as the backdrop for a new holiday movie filming in December.
“A Chrismystery,” is a family-friendly movie about a small town having its Christmas decorations stolen with residents working to figure out the culprit. Locations in both St. Joseph and Savannah will be used in the movie.
Jen Lilley, who is known for playing Theresa Donovan on “Days of Our Lives” and Maxie Jones on “General Hospital,” will star in the movie. She has been featured in several movies on the Hallmark and Great American Family channels.
Producers tied to this film were involved in “25 Miles To Normal,” which was filmed in St. Joseph and Kansas City in June and July.
“The screenwriter visited St. Joseph for the first time in September,” said Christian Mengel, director of communications and marketing for the St. Joseph Convention & Visitors Bureau. “That’s pretty uncommon in the film industry. Most location scouts are looking for places that match an already completed script. It says a lot about the trust the producers have in our community that they would do the opposite and send a writer to be inspired by the location.”
Paid cast and crew opportunities are available for residents. Those interested can email resumes to AChrismysteryMovie2024@gmail.com. People who would like speaking roles should submit their information as soon as possible on the website Actors Access, which is free, and make clear in the subject line “ST. JO LOCAL” or “SAVANNAH LOCAL” to prioritize themselves. Actors who are interested but not on that platform can email cvb@stjomo.com for other audition instructions.
This is expected to be the second film to utilize the Show MO Motion Media Tax Incentive in St. Joseph.
