Marilyn Kay Koch 73, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, in a St. Joseph hospital. She was born Nov. 17, 1950, in Seneca, Kansas, daughter of the late Eileen and Charles Duryea, Jr. Marilyn married Eldon Koch on Jan. 9, 1971, in Seneca and he survives of the home.
She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, quilting, she loved to cook and spend time with her family, and was the St. James School cook for many years. She was a devout Catholic who loved her faith and her family. She was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, and the St. James Altar Society.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dennis Duryea.
Survivors include husband, Eldon Koch of the home; sons, Fr. Jason Koch of Montrose, Missouri, and Jamie (Cheryl ) Koch of St. Joseph; daughters, Sheri (Marvin) Barnes of St. Joseph, and Vicki Brushwood; brothers, Ron (Sharon) Duryea, Don (Beth) Duryea, Greg (Lesa) Duryea, Merle (Rose Mary) Duryea; sisters, Debra (Gary) Meyer, and Kay Lynne (Marvin) Gabb; grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Bethany, Theodore “Teddy”, Levi, Revecca, Samantha, Andrea (Brett), Martha, James (Alejandra), Tori, Sean, Cheyenne, Gemma, Gretchen, Zetta, and Amelia; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Benjamin and Joshua; and her sister- in-law, Joyce Duryea.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at 11 a.m., at the St. James Catholic Church, Fr. Jonathan Davis, and Fr. Jason Koch Celebrants.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the St. James Catholic Church.
The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to the Mir House of Prayer or St. James Catholic School.
