MARYVILLE, Mo. – Margaret Elizabeth Stiens, 89, of Maryville, Missouri, passed on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, in Maryville, with family at her side.

Born near Barnard, Missouri, on Sept. 9, 1935, to Clifton M. and Mary H. (Schieber) Mattson. She graduated from Conception High School and lived all her life in the area.

On April 23, 1955, Margaret was united in marriage to Paul E. Stiens, and he survives of the home.

Margaret loved to play cards, cooked, canned and made jelly and processed many chickens. She delivered Meals On Wheels for over 20 years at the Senior Center.

A member and attended St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, where she was in the Altar Society, and had sung in the church choir, and a member of the Rockford Club.

Preceding her in death, parents; daughter, Diane Marie Stiens, in 1957; her siblings, Mary Mildred Huber, Sr. Mathilda Mattson OSB, Joe Mattson, Agatha Malson, Leo Benedict Mattson, Norbert Mattson; and her son-in-law, Harlan Allen; and granddaughter, Brenda Allen.

Survivors, husband, Paul E. Stiens, of the home; children, Debbie Allen, Maryville, Paul Stiens Jr., Maryville, Peggy (Larry) Wilmes, Ravenwood, Missouri, Mary Ellen (Steve) Mathiot, St. Joseph, and Clifton Stiens, Graham, Missouri. Siblings, Tillie (Leo) Perkins, Kansas City, Charles Mattson, Conception, Missouri, Lois Gockel, Maryville; 12 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville. Burial, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maryville.

Parish and family Rosary, 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2024, at the church, visitation will follow until 7 p.m. Services, Bram Funeral Home, Maryville.
