Wind damage has been reported across parts of Nodaway, Holt and Atchison counties Wednesday after a severe thunderstorm blew through the area just before 1:30 p.m.

According to emergency personnel, damage is concentrated north of Mound City near Craig, where three semi trucks were overturned on Interstate 29, closing traffic. Numerous trees and powerlines were reported down.

Western Nodaway County also sustained significant impact.

In a National Weather Service chat forum, Nodaway County Emergency manager Christy Forney reported the damage.

“Several power poles snapped, grain bins blown over, implement shed destroyed, garage off of a foundation,” she said. “North and central part of county: trees blown over, tree on unoccupied home in Pickering, roof blown off of large implement shed, part of roof removed from a home, buildings down, camper overturned, etc. So far, no injuries reported.”
