Professional indoor football lands in St. Joseph for 2025 season

The Arena League announced Wednesday that the Kansas City Goats will relocate to St. Joseph for the 2025 season and beyond.
The team, which played its inaugural season in 2024 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, will begin play in late May at Civic Arena.
General Manager Ted Sweeny and co-owners Christian Okoye, Stephen St. John and George Gates are excited to bring St. Joseph a Goats team that finished last season with a 7-1 record, losing to the Iowa Woo in the AL Playoffs.
Entering its second season in 2025, the Arena League will expand from four teams to six, with franchises ranging from Arkansas to Minnesota. The league prides itself on offering near-NFL caliber football at affordable ticket prices and opportunities for fans to interact with players.
Each team will compete in eight regular-season games, featuring fast-paced six-on-six action with quick play clocks and no huddles. The field will be 50 yards long, and each team will have 15 players on its roster.
Season tickets are on sale now, starting at just $135 for all games, with even lower for children 12 and under.
“Our primary mission is to provide something wholesome, affordable and fun to the families of St. Joe,” St John said. “We are open to adjusting the team’s name to a St. Joseph moniker as the Goats or an entirely new concept if a new majority owner saw fit to do so.”
