Rainey, Gerald L. 1942-2024 Cameron, Mo.

CAMERON, Mo. – Gerald “Jerry” Lee Rainey DVM, 82, of Cameron, Missouri, passed away Sept. 3, 2024. He was born Aug. 22, 1942, to Laurence R. and Evelyn (Scott) Rainey, in St. Albans, Missouri.

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Hickman High School, in Columbia, Missouri. He received his doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia. On Aug. 5, 1967, he married Mary Jane Rucker in Joplin, Missouri.

Jerry began his veterinary career at Pilchuck Veterinary Clinic in Snohomish Washington, working there from 1967-1969. He then started Cameron Veterinary Clinic, in Cameron, serving Cameron and the surrounding areas until his retirement in 2011.

He was a member of Missouri Veterinary Medicine Association, United States Army Reserve, and the Cameron United Methodist Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Phil Chance; mother-in-law, Louise Rucker.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home; daughter, Tracey (Tyler) Smith, Oak Grove, Oregon; son, Dr. Scott (Danielle) Rainey, Gibsonia, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Kaden, Mason, Allie, Jace; brother-in-law, John Rucker, Arlington, Texas.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Cameron United Methodist Church. Visitation 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
