Velma Faye (Miller) Brandt, 98, St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024.
She was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Easton, Missouri, to Clarence H. and Faye (Kessler) Miller. She grew up in Easton, then the family moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where Velma graduated from Ward High School. The family then returned to St. Joseph where she resided for the rest of her life.
She was employed at the Gas Service Company.
Velma married Louie Brandt on June 18, 1949. She was dedicated to caring for and loving her family and friends.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Altar Society, and the St. Joseph PTA. She received the Paul Harris Award from the East Side Rotary Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence H. and Faye Miller; sisters, Annabelle Tuck and Edna Doolan; brothers, Wilbur “Tony” Miller and Richard Miller; husband, Louie Brandt; and grandson, Jacob Jarozewski.
Survivors include her daughters, Joyce (Steve) Pankiewicz, Barbara (Martin) Jarozewski, and Linda (James) Blair; brother, Clarence (Elizabeth) Miller; grandchildren, Crystal, Andrew, Sarah, Christopher, Ryan, and Anna; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
We wish to thank the caregivers at Living Community and Aseracare for all they did for our mother. She cared about them just as if they were her own children.
Mass of Christian Burial and Public Livestream 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Parish Rosary 5:30 p.m. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where the family will gather with friends 6 to 8 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
