Missouri Western (1-0) @ Fort Hays State (1-0)
Western had to dig deep in their 33-31 comeback victory over Northeastern State last Thursday. The Griffons overcame a 31-14 halftime deficit in order to secure the victory. Senior Brandon Hall was a man on a mission for the Griffons, posting a career rushing total in game one of the regular season with 185 yards on the ground to help lead the comeback.
Fort Hays State accepted the challenge of facing No. 24 Angelo State and seized the opportunity by giving up just seven points in the victory. The Tigers allowed just 203 total yards of offense to the Rams.
Northwest Missouri State @ Nebraska Kearney
Heading into last Thursday’s game against Minnesota State, it had been 14 years since the Bearcats had lost an opening night game. That streak came to an end at the hands of the Mavericks who asserted themselves early with a 22-0 lead at the halftime break. Northwest was able to find its rhythm offensively in the second half and would not roll over, outscoring Minnesota State 22-14 in the final 30 minutes, but ultimately fell 36-22 to start its season 0-1.
