DEKALB, Mo. – Lester Robert Garton Jr., 81, of DeKalb, Missouri, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024, in DeKalb. He was born Sept. 20, 1942, in St. Joseph, son of the late Josephine and Lester Garton. He attended Bethel School and graduated Dekalb High School in 1961. He married Caroline Wilson, in Rushville, Missouri. He served in the Army. He worked at KW Dart and Northwest Pipe as an assembler. In his younger years he was an avid water-skier and enjoyed boating. Bob was a man of few words, but was always a very kind and handy guy. He enjoyed mowing the yard on his John Deere, he loved Nascar, his dogs and Dale Earnhart Sr.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Justin Gould; and brother, Roger “Manny” Garton.
Survivors include wife, Caroline Garton, of the home; son, Michael Garton, of DeKalb; daughter, Melissa (Travis) Domann, of Dearborn, Missouri; sister, Barbara (Curtis) Gould, of Faucett, Missouri; granddaughters, Sloane (Tyler) Bryan, of Valley Falls, Kansas, and Lillie (Chris) Gast, of Valley Falls; and great-grandson, Carrson Bryan.
Graveside Funeral Services with Military Honors were held on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024, at Westlawn Cemetery, in DeKalb.
