WATHENA, Kan. – Nicholas “Nick” L. Miller Sr., 96, of Wathena, Kansas, passed away Aug. 1, 2024, at the Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph.

Nick was born on Dec. 6, 1927, in Troy, Kansas, to Robert E. and Emma (Shalz) Miller.

He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, American Legion Post #161 and VFW Post#5531, Wathena, Kansas. Nick worked for Seitz’s Packing Company as a butcher for 34 years.

Nick married Mary Ann Begesse on March 4, 1955, in Troy. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Mary Louise Miller, Martha Barclay; son, Dennis Miller; siblings, Francis Miller, Ed Miller, Paul Miller, Armilda Dawe, Bertha Uhlrig, Marcelline Plumlee and Leona Morrison.

Survivors include sons, Nick Miller Jr., Wathena, Kansas, Roger Miller (Carla), St. Joseph, Robert Miller (Gloria), Wathena, Daniel Miller, Kansas City, Missouri; daughter, Barbara Ryan (Jack), Tempe, Arizona; grandchildren, Ashley (Billie) Medina, Sean Miller, Ryan Miller, Kari (Roger) Winfrey, Taylor Barclay and Samantha Barclay; and great-grandchildren, Kira and Luke Medina, Maddox, Emmitt and Emerson Winfrey; siblings, Agnes Wertin, Wilber Miller, Patty Dawson and Linda Schneider; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wathena. Rosary: 5:30 p.m. Monday evening, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. at the Church. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wathena.
