Patty Lou Smith, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at a local health care facility. She was born Dec. 28, 1932, in Houston, Texas, daughter of Helen and Gladys Earl Gustafson. On April 22, 1955, she married Kenneth Smith. She was “Mother of our old Neighborhood” in N. Richland Hills, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Sr.; children, Cliff and Glenn Smith; stepfather, Tom Lindsey; and siblings, Gordon Earl Gustafson at age 7, Pearl Earlene Boone and Cleo Irene Tozier; and grandson, Shane Anthony Smith.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Smith Jr. and Wanda Smith; grandchildren, Charles, Danielle and Katie Smith and Bradley Shane Richardson; nieces and nephews, Sandra and Bobby Perdue, Tony and Tammy Ford, Loreene Ransbottom, Lynnda Tozier, and Jonathan Lipe.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home with Interment following at Mount Olive Cemetery, Troy, Kansas. Pastor Leanna VanZandt-Nauman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home.
