Ruth Colleen Barbee, 87 years, 6 months, and 1 day, departed this life on Aug. 12, 2024. Ruth was born Feb. 11, 1937, on a farm in Platte County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Wm E. and Lucile V. (West) Barbee. She graduated from Pickett High School in 1954 and attended Gards Business University, St. Joseph.
She retired from Mercantile Bank (now U.S. Bank) December 1998. Ruth was a member of Frederick Blvd. Baptist Church. She loved gardening, yard work, volunteering at Mosaic Hospital, and helping the elderly or anyone who needed help. She was just a plain ole country gal who loved her Lord, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Owen A. Barbee.
Survivors include nieces, Beverly (David deceased) Stouffer-Marshall, (Bill), Alice Faye (Steve) Thomas, Donna (Richard) VanCleave, Dixie Barbee and Janice Barbee; nephew, Mike (Emily) Barbee; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Funeral Services Friday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. followed by Interment at the Savannah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a donation to Frederick Blvd. Baptist Church, American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
