In St. Joseph, the Chiefs Training Camp marks the unofficial start to football season. For the fans’ first day of this season’s training camp, everyone showed up and showed out to support the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fans came from across state lines decked out in their red and gold gear. The steady morning breeze provided perfect conditions to watch some incredible touchdowns.

First time attendees, Melodi and Abby, say they had a blast.

“It’s a really nice experience,” said Melodi.

“It’s really good,” said Abby.

For a lot of fans this would be their first time seeing their favorite players up close. Asher, attendee, says his favorite player is Patrick Mahomes.

“Well, he’s the best quarterback in the world. He’s a real good,” said Asher.

When asked about their favorite parts of football, attendee, Kody said it’s just fun to watch.

“I like football because it’s competitive,” he said.

“I just like seeing the team camaraderie,” said Nash, a Chiefs fan.

“I like all their teamwork and how Andy Reid puts the whole team together as one,” Nash said.

Fans traveled from all around Missouri and surrounding states to meet the team. Some were looking to get special requests fulfilled. “I want Mahomes headband,” said Asher.

“I want to give them hugs, said Edison, a young fan.

“I would put it on my wall,” said Nash.

Other young fans took the opportunity to learn from a professional athlete. “I want to learn how they throw and making good catches,” fan, Kody said.

The training camp definitely provided an opportunity to bring communities together and unite football fans while supporting the team of Super Bowl champions.
