SKIDMORE, Mo. – Betty Annette Williams Nelson, 84, Skidmore, Missouri, died July 26, 2024, at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born April 3, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Eldon H. and Vera E. Headrick Williams. She was a 1957 graduate of Maryville, Missouri, High School. Betty earned a bachelor’s degree from NWMSU in Maryville, and a master’s degree from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. She wed Lloyd R. Nelson in Skidmore on June 9, 1963. Betty taught home economics in the Maryville R-II School District prior to starting a family. Betty was known for baking and decorating cakes for all occasions. She served in numerous organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Beverly Williams Gardner.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; brother, Larry (Susan) Williams of Lenexa, Kansas; four children, Kyle (Karla) Nelson of, Stewartsville, Missouri, Kayla (Robert) Holscher, ofPalestine, Illinois, Kelly (Teak) Nelson, of Kirksville, Missouri, and Karlene (Dustin) Jenkins of, Skidmore. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Price Funeral Home in Maryville. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 31 at 10 a.m. at the Skidmore Christian Church. Burial will be in Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville.
