Richard Edward “Rick” Weyer, 67, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, surrounded by family.
He was born July 1, 1956, in St. Joseph. He attended Benton High School and married Deborah Despain on Jan. 15, 1978. He was the owner operator of several local businesses throughout his life, including Weyer’s auto salvage, and M&R auto repair. His longest running business was Big Lake Bait and Tackle where he was doing what he loved most. Rick enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping, but most of all spending time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Wilma and Fernando Punzo; his mother, Donna Markham; father, Henry Weyer; sister, Deborah; and brothers, Bob and Donnie.
Survivors include wife, Deborah Weyer, of the home; children, Mike (Willa) Messa, Mandy (Jeff) Smith, Sandy Messa, Terry (Theresa) Messa, Stacy (Jeremy) Lucker, and Stephanie (Mark) Morris; granddaughter, Bailey; and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Sheila, Barbara, Lloyd and Brad; nephew, Teddy Weyer; son- in-law, Leroy Gibson; and his beloved dog, Orly.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Monday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 3 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Rev Jim Barnett officiating.
