A man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon near the Stockyards Expressway involving a Freightliner truck and a Ford F-150.

St. Joseph police officers received a call at 12:33 p.m. about the injury traffic crash at South Sixth and Hickory streets.

“The semi-truck and trailer were headed east on Hickory to turn north on Sixth Street,” Sgt. Chris Thomas said. “The black F-150 was northbound on Sixth Street when they collided.”

The driver of the Ford F-150, described by officers as an older male, was transported by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care with serious injuries. Thomas said the driver of the Freightliner was fine and did not inform officers of any injuries.

Thomas said police planned to be on the scene for a few hours to investigate the crash. The intersection is expected to open again later in the evening.
