Woman dies on the way to hospital after arrest

The St. Joseph Police Department is investigating after a woman who was arrested on warrants died en route to the hospital.

EMS responded to the booking desk after being notified of a potential medical issue. Kirstan R. Canterbury, 29, was conscious at the time of transport, but on the way, her condition worsened, according to a news release from Capt. Jeff Wilson.

Canterbury was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital. An autopsy will be conducted.
