Employers and job seekers alike had a chance to connect with each other and explore available employment resources on Wednesday.

The Missouri Job Center hosted an open house event at its 2202 Frederick Ave. location.

Not only did the center cater to those seeking employment opportunities, benefits and resources, but it also served employers and businesses looking to hire.

“Our goal today is really to promote the services available to the public,” said Brent Stevens, executive director of the Workforce Development Board of North Missouri. “Whether it be a job seeker or a business and what the job center can really do for people, because we really want to be that community resource.”

The center offers numerous resources for those looking for jobs and employers, and although it may be overwhelming, Stevens said it makes looking for a job much easier.

“Here at the job center, we have a conglomerate of resources available and our goal is to be a one-stop shop for somebody who needs to find employment,” Stevens said.

Stevens also said the center does a good job at ensuring that job seekers find employment through their resources.

“We are held to a high standard and our goal is that 80% of the people we work with are employed six months and a year down the road. And we do a great job of hitting those measures through our funding.”

The Missouri Job Center is hosting a “Coffee Connection” event at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27.

The connection event will be at Benedictine Living Center and will provide opportunities to meet with business professionals and community leaders to network.

Staff at the job center hope to host their open house annually during the summers so that way job seekers and businesses can continue to make connections.
