Betty Tupas Rosell White, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024.
She was born Oct. 17, 1931, in Tubod Lanao Del Norte, Philippines, to Pastor Hilario and Elisa (Tupas) Rosell.
Betty came to the United States with her brother, Benny Rosell, in 1952. They attended the Midwest Bible College. In 1953 she came to St. Joseph where she graduated from nursing school in 1956. Over the years, she worked at the Sister’s Hospital, Saxton’s nursing Home, and the St. Joseph State Hospital.
Betty was involved in the Little United Nations Club, the Sweet Adeline Chorus, and the Sunshine Gospel Singers. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Betty loved people and never met a stranger.
Betty married Charles Laurance White Sr. on Dec. 22, 1956. They were married for 61 years.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; son, Charles White Jr.; daughter, Karen Ann White Ezzell; brothers, Hilario Rosell Jr., Elbert Rosell, Benny Rosell and Eddie Rosell.
Survivors include sisters, Elena Rosell and Elsie Rosell; brother, Ernest Rosell; grandchildren, Heather Cohen, Charity (Eric) Hoffman, Levi (Amy) and Matthew Neely; great-grandchildren, Haley (Austin) Lake, Paige (Brayden) Sollars, Zac Cohen, Jaron Hoffman, Kayla Hoffman, Corrine Neely and Julian Neely; great-great-children, Brynlee Pinzino, Dawson Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10 a.m. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mount Mora Cemetery, St. Joseph.
